We spent Thankgiving Monday with friends. J's best friend and her family in fact. It wasn't a particularly NICE day, but it was such that they were able to be outside - and outside they were, the whole time. They had SO much fun, in the leaves, on the tire swing, playing hide and seek. These two get along SO well. They never fight. They go quickly to each others defense. They just love each other like we as believers are supposed to! I love this picture of them, the absolute joy on their faces. They were spinning rapidly when this picture was taken, yet there is no fear on their faces, nothing but joy and laughter. Oh that we could be so joyful when we feel our lives are spinning out of our control!
James 1:2 -4 says "Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything."
Without trials we never will strengthen our spiritual muscles. We'll never grow stronger in our Faith and able to face more trials .... to grow even further in our faith.
For those of you who know my son, you'll know how huge a step it is for him to be on a rapidly spinning tire swing ... he would have been terrified of this not so long ago. Because he has been willing to trust his sister and his friend he has been able to take small steps and grow more and more in confidence ... and there he sits, LAUGHING at what would have terrified him only a short time ago.
This young child teaches me many spiritual lessons. May I never cease growing, learning & strengthening my spiritual muscles!!!
